What this ChatGPT prompt generator does

You give it two things: the role you want ChatGPT to play and the task you need done. A model on our server turns them into one complete prompt that names the expertise, states the goal, adds the context and limits a good answer needs, asks for a useful format and tells ChatGPT to ask questions when something is unclear. Pick the assistant you use: for ChatGPT and Gemini the prompt comes in short labeled sections, for Claude in XML tags, which Anthropic's documentation recommends. Pick an answer format too, and the prompt asks for exactly that: a list, steps, a table, an email or a short answer.

How to use it
  1. Role: who should answer. Be specific: “landlord-tenant lawyer” works better than “lawyer”, and “B2B email copywriter” better than “writer”.
  2. Task: what you want done, for whom and any limits. You have up to 500 characters, so there is room for the details that matter: your situation, the audience, the length, the tone.
  3. Write it for and Answer format (optional): the assistant you will paste the prompt into, and what you want back from it.
  4. Generate, then copy the prompt, paste it into a new chat and add your own material where it asks for it.
An example

We typed the role Landlord-tenant lawyer and the task Review my apartment lease and point out clauses that are unusual or risky for a tenant in California. The generator wrote a prompt that sets ChatGPT up as a California housing-law specialist, lists what to check (deposit limits, notice periods, automatic renewals, fees, waived rights, missing disclosures), asks for each risky clause with what it means, why it is risky and a tenant-friendly rewrite, and tells it to ask for the lease text if you haven’t pasted it. That last part is the point: you get a prompt that pulls the right information out of you, not a generic answer.

More role and task ideas
  • Role: B2B email copywriter. Task: a three-email follow-up sequence for leads who downloaded our pricing sheet but never booked a call. Format: email.
  • Role: personal trainer who works with beginners over 40. Task: a 4-week plan for three 30-minute home workouts a week, no equipment, knee-friendly. Format: table.
  • Role: senior Python reviewer. Task: review the function I paste for bugs, edge cases and readability, and suggest a cleaner version. Assistant: Claude.
  • Role: travel planner who hates tourist traps. Task: a 3-day Lisbon plan for two people on a mid-range budget, with one rainy-day option per day. Format: steps.
  • Role: small-business accountant. Task: explain which of my home office costs I can deduct as a US freelancer, and what records to keep. Format: short answer.
Tips for a better result
  • Put the outcome in the task, not just the topic: “a one-page plan I can show my manager” beats “a plan”.
  • Say who the answer is for and the format you want back: a table, a checklist, an email under 150 words.
  • If the first prompt is close but not right, change one detail in the task and generate again. Small changes in the task change the prompt more than rewording the role.

Questions

Is it free? Yes, with no sign-up. To keep it free for everyone there is a fair-use limit of a few prompts every ten minutes per visitor. If you hit it, wait a little and try again.

Does it work for Claude and Gemini? Yes. Choose Claude or Gemini under «Write it for» and the prompt is laid out the way that assistant reads best. Any prompt it writes is plain text with a role, a goal, constraints and an output format, which every major chat assistant follows. For ready-made sets, see our Claude prompts and Gemini prompts.

Do you keep what I type? Your role and task go to the model that writes the prompt and are not published anywhere. Don’t put passwords or private personal data in them. See the privacy policy.
